About Retold

A brief, personal story

The Core Belief

For ourselves and posterity

Retold was created with a simple intention, to help families hold onto the stories, voices and character of the people who shape their lives.

Because over time, those details fade.
And once they’re gone, they can’t be recreated.

Being able to hear someone’s voice again, to see how they spoke, how they laughed, how they remembered things, brings a sense of connection that nothing else quite replaces.

Retold grew from that realisation.

How it began

Our story

Retold is led by Harry Fynn, a filmmaker with a lifelong connection to documenting real moments and personal history.

His work is shaped by a belief that the most important stories are often the ones closest to us, and that they deserve to be captured beautifully and honestly.

The approach behind Retold is shaped by years of experience in filmmaking and storytelling, from commercial production work through Plato Video, to creating personal, story-led wedding films for couples. Retold is a natural progression of that experience, focused entirely on documenting the stories and people that matter most.

For Harry, growing up, moments were always being recorded by his dad, on every camera format imaginable. Conversations, family gatherings, stories being told and retold.

At the time, it felt ordinary. Now, it’s become something incredibly valuable.

A lasting, definitive record

Remember, reconnect, rewind

This isn’t about producing something polished for the sake of it.

It’s about creating something honest, something that reflects a person as they truly are. Often, family members are part of the process, helping the conversations unfold naturally, in a familiar and comfortable way.

The result is something far more personal than a typical filmed interview, a film that feels true to the person at its centre.

Care is taken not just in how the film is made, but in how it’s preserved, so it can be shared and valued for generations.

A considered, private process

Handled with care

These films are deeply personal.

Privacy is always respected, and every project remains entirely private unless a family chooses to share it.

The process itself is calm, thoughtful and unobtrusive, designed to make people feel comfortable, not performed.

For now and for the future
